The Guest House

The Guest House is an adorable three-season honeymoon home located on five acres across the street from our year-round home, Old Comfortable. It was completely rebuilt and refurnished in 1993. The screened-in porch overlooks a 14-acre wildlife pond, home to lilies and waterfowl. The Guest House does not have a view of the ocean, but guests are invited to share the view from the crow's nest and wharf in front of Old Comfortable. There is also a public beach within walking distance and a public landing for launching a boat/kayak nearby. Kayaks may be rented in Friendship village just five minutes away. Following a day of being on the salt water, arrangements can be made to wash off your equipment. If your group has more than three people, please inquire about our studio across the street.

The Guest House is ideal for someone wanting to get away from it all with a lovely screened porch overlooking a nature pond. It has one queen and one twin bed and is suitable for 1 to 3 people. Back home in Maine with Weather was different our wonderful hosts! This year (summer) cooler some rain at night, and foggy - whether from Canadian wildfires or just Maine fog. The two weeks went by quickly with us doing our usual site visiting. New things happening Road on Marten Point Rd.

Such beautiful weather in October in Maine. In the 60s and even two days in the low 70s sunny the whole time. Lynn and Bill I don't know how you do it but every time we come you give us beautiful weather. Our stay was relaxing and the restaurants were yummy!

See you in July!
—Jerry and Chris, Sept 2022

Thank you very much for the delightful stay we had here at "Old Comfortable"! The cottage is charming, just perfect! It is so well-equipped with all the "niceties" and beautiful scenery. We had the most wonderful stay and look forward to returning next year. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
—Alan and Beane, Sept 2022

We are so lucky to be able to rent from Lynne and Bill again this year. We consider this our home away from home with the best neighbors! This trip was truly a relaxing trip as we had no destination in mind except golf, reading and visiting our "old haunts and restaurants" A new place to visit is the Boothbay Railroad Village Museum. Very impressive since it isn't just railroad but excellent selection of antique cars. The weather this trip was phenomenal! No rain and temps no higher than low 80s! Absolutely perfect can't wait to be back in October!
—Jerry and Chris, July 2022

Thank you for a great honeymoon!

We can't wait to come back. There is some vanilla ice cream we didn't finish in the freezer please take it with you or leave for the next tenant.
—Katelyn and Nicholas. August 2022

Thanks for your hospitality!

A perfect, comfortable cabin on a very pretty part of the coast. Looking forward to my September visit. Already thinking/hoping for next summer.
—Alan P. July 2022

Another wonderful time here at "Old Comfortable".

Thank you for letting us spend time here in the cabin. We always enjoy the stay and it is never long enough.

The pinklady slippers were pretty all through the woods.

Peace and quiet and being here is always nice to have.

We would like to come back next year!
—Patrick and Laurelle, Plana Texas, June 2022

After being absent from the cottage for 2 years, due to Covid, we were thrilled to be back. The weather was enjoyable and the temperatures were in the high 60s to low 70s.

We were able to visit our favorite restaurants; Betts and Fisherman Coop in Boothbay Harbor, Moodys, McLoons, and McLaughlins in Lincolnville. We tried to eat at Morses, but the restaurant had been closed due to Covid. But we did buy our sauerkraut - yum yum - to bring home. And of course, we had to visit the ice cream shops!!

We put a lot of mile on our vehicle just enjoying Maine. As always we went in search of lighthouses. We are narrowing down our list. We enjoyed traveling to Millincock/Baxter State Park, and on to the Lumberman's Museum in Patten. It was a very interesting museum. We had the opportunity to go to Owl's Head Museum to see a Historic Car - Mainly Model T's - and Biplane Air Show.

It was nice to be able to enjoy life without the rush rush that we seem to have at home. Lynne and Bill are great hosts and are very knowledgeable of the area.We cannot wait to come back next year.
—Jerry and Chris Millersburg, OH, June 2021

After spending a month here we feel like we are running away from home! Our goal was to come to Maine, live among the natives for a month and learn to be Mainers. Everywhere we went, and we drove over 2000 miles here, everyone was beyond nice. When we got past the “where are you from” (we must talk different) we felt welcome everywhere. Your cottage was wonderful and we feel so at home here. We have especially enjoyed getting to know you guys (y'all) personally and appreciate you treating us like family. We love it here and will definitely return. We have told friends and family about it so don't be surprised to hear from others that "have an accent"!
—Bruce & Sherry Woodard, Brentwood TN, July 2021

Thank you again for such a wonderful week in Friendship. After such a crazy year with Covid and cancer this was the perfect medicine! Hard to believe this was our 9th visit but it gets better each year.. But harder to leave too! Wishing Lynn and Bill good health and joy!
—Lisa & Marc, Fayston, VT, August 2021

Our 4th time in the cottage. We really love it here, so peaceful and beautiful. It is our Happy Place!! Great relax. What more can we say? Just thank you, Lynn and Bill!
—Eve & Omar, Danvers, MA, August 2021

Thank you for letting us stay in the cottage. After a bit of a rough trip and having to miss a year due to Covid, it was extra special. The seafood, the views, the wildlife and especially our host made our stay most enjoyable and relaxing. Hope we can do it again next year. Stay safe and healthy Lynn and Bill.
—Don & Tina, Cape Vincent, NY, August 2021

We loved your cozy cottage - it was equipped with "everything"! The bed was comfy and we enjoyed being in the woods and so close to the beach! We saw your resident fox twice. He's beautiful. It was a wonderful time of rest, relaxation and enjoying our Lord's magnificent creation! Looking forward to coming again in the near future.
—Jim and Jen Stewart, Yarmouth Port, Cape Cod, Sept 2021

Thank you for another wonderful stay. We hope to return to your piece of heaven. It's paradise.
—Cindy & Rick, TN, Oct 2018

Additional to the overwhelming impressions of the landscape, the beautiful colors, the nice cottages all around I walked from your inspiring photo albums and got insight into what Maine and Friendship is. Thank you so much.
—Elizabeth and Horst, Germany, Oct 2018

Thank you for your hospitality and friendship. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the use of the cottage and the crow's nest. Hopefully we will see you in 2019, maybe even sooner than later.
—Dan & Tina, NY, Sep 2018

We are so appreciative of your hospitality and for sharing with us. Thank you for sharing the history of this place plus the tour. We LOVE the cottage and pray we can return next year around the same time.
—Ray & Peg B (NC), Kathy F (WV), Sep 2018

6th time back and just as special as it was the 1st time! See you next August.
—Mark & Lisa, Vermont, Aug–Sept 2018

Thank you for having us in this beautiful place! We feel so lucky to have met both of you and to have been able to make several visits here. The cottage is so perfectly organized and decorated to reflect this amazing area and its history. I always enjoy looking through your photography books, Lynn. You definitely have an artist's eye and your work captures beautiful vistas as well as those special small details that should not be missed. We have the quiet beauty and breath-taking view of the pond from the back porch. I'm sure, if we were motivated to do so, we could travel short distances from here to see all sorts of "attractions" but we much prefer to just enjoy this place and this very special cottage. You both work very hard & you've created a lovely bit of paradise right here!
—Debby & Gerry, Southlake, TX, Jul–Aug 2018

It was our second vacation in this charming cottage, and as great as the first one. We enjoy immensely this beautiful spot and all the interesting places in the area. We'll be coming back!
—Omar and Eva, MA, Jun 2018

Thank you Bill and Lynn for providing this beautiful cottage for us for the week. So peaceful and stress-free. Jerry enjoyed his time with Douglas on the boat. We both enjoyed listening to Bill and his group play at Round Pond. We both enjoyed listening to Lynn as she told us the history of Martin's Point. The cottage being between the ocean and the pond was a real treat. We could hear lobster boats in the morning and the bullfrogs from the pond at night. We truly hate to leave but our little grandsons are missing us. We hope to return next year.
—Jerry & Chris, Millersburg, OH, Jun 2018

So Peaceful
Rated 5/5
My husband and I spent a lovely 2 days at this sweet cabin on a pond across the street from the ocean. It could not have been more homey or better-equipped, complete with anything we could have needed. Lynn and Bill were the perfect hosts....welcoming us with an anniversary card and homemade muffins! We enjoyed a tour of their magnificent home and grounds facing the ocean, as well as lively conversation about the arts, lobstering and bluegrass. Just a few passions of theirs....along with Lynn's beautiful photography. We certainly hope to be back for another visit!

A little piece of Paradise
Rated 5/5
Darling little cabin in the woods. We loved the forest quality when we sat on the back porch. Were amazed at the beauty when we sat on the jetty.

We will have warm memories of this special place and will share with our friends and family. Thanks Lynn.

best spot to relax
Rated 5/5
We just come back from a week long stay in the cottage and our "batteries" are fully recharged, so to speak. The place has a perfect location, water view on both sides, and it is so completely relaxing. The air has a great fragrance of salty ocean and woods. Cottage is comfortable, kitchen very functional, I liked that it has a lot of windows, nice and bright. Lynn is very pleasant to deal with.

There is also a lot to do in the area, and you can find all kind of guides and brochures in the cottage.

We loved this vacation and hope to come back.

Truly a home away from home
Rated 5/5
This was our second visit to the Cottage at Old Comfortable. We opened the door and just let out a big sigh and relaxed. Everything is spotless, every possibly needed item is there (except food) from the tool drawer with tape and string to bedding and towels and dishes and pans and even a first aid kit. The screen porch is our favorite spot. We walked to the beach everyday and it was convenient to attractions in Rockland and Boothbay Harbor. Already thinking about a return trip!
—Dale and Laurie D., Jul 2017

Well cared for with beautiful views
Rated 5/5
We really enjoyed our week at Martin Point Cottage Pond, a beautiful setting with spectcular views. The cattage is away from the hustle and bustle of all the tourists, yet close enough that everything we wanted to do was a close easy drive.

The cottage was very clean and well kept, with everything you could need stocked and in excellent condition. Lynn & Bill are wonderful hosts.

When we next visit Maine we will definately check to see if it's available again.
—Hank & Sue D., Jun 2017

Tranquil Sanctuary
Rated 5/5
A beautiful setting on a large pond with harbor views across the road. Very peaceful location that allows you to fully disconnect. This cottage has everything you need for a truly relaxing vacation. A truly enjoyable vacation experience! Lynn and Bill are excellent hosts providing everything that could be needed for your vacation.

Great Cottage
Rated 5/5
Great cottage for a couple. Lynn & Bill have decorated it attractively and it had that Maine Coast feel. We used the cottage as "home base" and did a lot of sightseeing during the days. It is a little bit out of the main path and you have to drive about 9 miles to get back to route 1.... but we got used to it. Weather was perfect for this time of the year (did have 1 day when it drizzled a little). Property was clean and well maintained. Good value for the $. We would recommend the property to friends and would stay there again if we return to the area. Our only regret was that our schedule did not allow us stay there longer.

A wonderful time
Rated 5/5
We stayed in August for a week in Lynn's cottage and we had a wonderful time there. The cottage is super cozy, perfectly located and better equipped as any other cottage I have rent. Lynn and her husband have been very friendly and supportive and we enjoyed each time we met. And finally the area with this fantastic landscape is awesome. We have a long way to Maine from Germany but I'm sure we'll come back.
—Jens R., Aug 2016

Charming, well-appointed cottage in lovely setting
Rated 5/5
We enjoyed staying at this cottage more than we could have dreamed. The setting was perfect. We enjoyed sitting by the pond behind the house and watching the osprey dive. On the ocean side, an eagle flew in and landed in the pine tree behind us as a seal bobbed in the water. The slow pace of Friendship met our needs perfectly. Busy tourist towns are within easy reach, but we wanted to enjoy them as a day trip. The kitchen is so well stocked that it was easy to prepare fresh fish at home for dinner. The cottage is so well-appointed that we didn't need a thing. The friendliness of the people, the hospitality of our hosts and the peacefulness of the setting made this a lovely stay. It really is comfortable. We can't wait to come back.

Utterly Relaxing
Rated 5/5
This was our 3rd time back to Lynn's lovely cottage and what a delight! As 2 hardworking professionals who want to escape our crazy hectic pace we love to go to Lynn's cottage and Friendship.

The cottage is so well equipped in all rooms, but particularly the kitchen....which is extra special for folks like us who love to cook! Each day we would buy 3 fresh lobsters directly from the lobstermen at the docks in town ( ask for Jessie), roast them on the Webber charcoal grill ( hint use the Cowboy Brand firewood charcoal ...gives amazing flavor so you will never boil again) would have 2 for dinner and save 1 for the next day to make our own lobster rolls to enjoy while at the beach. Lots of great local produce, berries and baked treats to purchase to round out our dinners. And for those who don't want to make their own lobster rolls go to Wallace's Market...a hidden gem for almost anything you could need and just a few miles away!

The cottage is much larger than it appears in photos and nicer too! Extremely clean, comfy and cute little gardens all around. With the 2 bedrooms we had a friend joins us for a few days and there was plenty of room for 3 adults.

Every morning I enjoyed my daily 6 miles walk, my husband road biked his 20 miles and we would have our lunch at the marvelous and very quiet beach just a few minutes away via a quick stroll.

We can't recommend this property enough and hope to return each summer for many, many years!!

Beautiful Maine Cabin
Rated 5/5
We stayed at the Martin Point Cottage and loved it. First off, it's a gorgeous location - quick walk across the street to the ocean, beautiful view out the back of a pond. It's great for homebodies - close distance to hiking trails, fully equipped kitchen that wasn't a pain to cook in, and enough space for multiple people to spread out. And it also worked well as a jumping off point to explore coastal Maine - not too long a drive to Rockland or Owl's Head. Lynn was wonderful and showed us around. Hopefully, we''ll make it back soon!
—Kendra A., Aug 2016

Absolutely loved it
Rated 5/5
The listing explains most of what you need to know. I can confirm that the kitchen was organized, clean, and had everything you might want to prepare a meal. Plus, there was a window over the sink! The sitting area fine. The screened in porch was larger and had a view to a large, romantic looking pond.

The main bedroom was pretty, the bed luxurious. We kept our suitcases in the second room, which was cute with a twin bed.

It was a seven minute walk to the beach, and for some reason, the water at low tide was teeming with lobsters! We also hiked around the point in a nature reserve. The reserve was within easy walking distance, too.

Be aware that there is little cell phone connection unless you can find the "right" spot. Wifi, TV reception, hot water, etc. were excellent in the cottage. There is a large fan over the bed, better than air conditioning.

If we go back to Friendship, which we may, we'll try for this cottage first.
—Susan S., Jul 2016

Well Kept and Loved
Rated 5/5
Lovely cottage! Wonderful, thoughtful people! Everything is provided, very clean. It was an easy drive to museums, galleries, nature and trails right at the doorstep, walk to the beach. Cozy as could be on a rainy day. I wanted to stay longer.
—Dale and Laurie D., Sep 2015

A lovely spot in Maine
Rated 5/5
We spent a few days at this wonderful little cottage in Friendship Maine. It was beautifully cared for, clean as a whistle, and well appointed with everything you would need. Nicely equipped kitchen, beautiful linens on the comfortable beds and very nicely decorated. Lynn met us and made us feel very welcomed. Some of the highlights were watching the sun come up from the dock and the beauty of the bay, the beach area just a few steps away with bracing water temperatures that remind you this is the ocean, the cool fresh air at night and being able to relax in the quiet. We liked having lobster rolls at the local general store - Wallace's - and we took a short ride into Rockland to go to the Farnsworth museum. This is a great place to stay and enjoy the Midcoast area of Maine. We hope to be back again next year.
—Barry M., Sep 2015

Peaceful, beautiful scenery/walks, helpful hosts
Rated 5/5
Peaceful, beautiful scenery/walks, helpful hosts, Ideal little cottage with all the amenities we needed -- even for a lobster supper! Peaceful views of Crystal Lake out the back door/porch and quick walk to ocean out the front (at the host's dock across the street or at the beach around the corner) -- AND, ocean views out the side window! Extremely helpful hosts right across the road.

The listed house description and guidelines are very accurate and clearly described. The property was immaculate and very functional. I would highly recommend this little retreat. Enjoyed the local restaurants, museums, beaches -- AND even the bluegrass events!
